Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self‑motivated ATC Technician to work on our Honolulu Rail Project. As the successful candidate, your ideas for continuous improvement and creativity are welcome. The position is based in Pearl City, HI.
Accountabilities- Performs routine, preventive and unscheduled maintenance, inspection, adjustments, testing, cleaning, lubrication and proper maintenance on assigned signaling system equipment in accordance with wiring diagrams, schematics, operations and maintenance manuals.
- Observes system components and devices in operation to detect potential failures and locate causes of malfunction.
- Perform troubleshooting, identification and resolution of system and subsystem to support field technicians in the diagnosis and correction of faults.
- Produce accurate maintenance records, equipment performance, work accomplished, and other information using a computerized maintenance management system.
- Analyzes log files to troubleshoot complex issues and provide required corrective action and improvement.
- Drive work vehicles when responding to emergencies and when required on duty.
- Support the on‑site spare parts management and the repair cycle from/to the site.
- Support the preparation of system performance maintenance technical report.
- Produce work blocks and Job Hazard Analysis pertaining to planned work.
- Conduct job and safety briefing as required.
- Perform duties as instructed/directed by Department Manager and the System Engineer.
- Work in close proximity to the third rail frequently requiring Red Tag, LOTOs and hot stick application.
- Ensure execution and collection of all maintenance records and support the monitoring of day‑to‑day maintenance performance.
- Ensure conformance to technical specifications and compliance with operational specifications and tolerances (e.g., verifying dimensions and clearances of parts).
- Ensure sufficient materials, tools, and equipment are on hand, calibrated and in good condition for maintenance activities.
- Early identification of failure trends that may impact fleet availability.
- Ensure logs and dump files download from on‑site equipment and provide first‑level analysis.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Ensure corrective and preventative maintenance tasks are executed in compliance with the company safety policy and local regulations.
- Comply with all maintenance procedures and instructions, including safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
- Execute the health check procedures before vehicles are put into service.
- Execute and collect all maintenance records and support the monitoring of day‑to‑day maintenance performance.
- Ensure effective implementation of first‑line response maintenance safety standards.
- Shift rotation, weekends, holidays and typical major infrastructure project work required.
- Perform related cross‑functional job duties on unrelated track and third rail systems included but not limited to electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic controlled systems.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical and electromechanical controlled systems and equipment.
- Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 1–3 years experience in electronic equipment maintenance.
- Ability to use common and specialized tools and test equipment.
- Knowledge of, or ability to attain knowledge of, the safety rules regarding lock‑out protection while working on the line and the rules governing the protection of traffic.
- Ability to use and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, operations manuals, manufacturers’ maintenance instructions, operating Rulebook, etc., and comprehend the operations and maintenance of the system.
- A team player with a strong analytical mind; able to work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- 2 years experience with maintenance and troubleshooting faults on electrical, mechanical and electromechanical controlled systems.
