The Work
The Network Specialist, Junior will play a pivotal role in supporting the organization’s information systems infrastructure. This position requires a foundational understanding of network systems to contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of Local Area Networks (LAN), Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN), and Wide Area Networks (WAN). The candidate will provide technical guidance, troubleshoot performance issues, and ensure the stability of network operations.
Additionally, the Network Specialist will interact with vendor support services and contribute to capacity planning and escalation procedures.

ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance for the direction and monitoring of information systems operations, ensuring maximum network efficiency.
- Design, build, implement, and maintain network systems, including LAN, MAN, and WAN infrastructures.
- Direct and oversee the compilation of records and reports related to network operations and maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network performance issues, ensuring timely resolution and root cause analysis.
- Analyze network traffic metrics to help optimize performance and provide capacity planning recommendations.
- Actively monitor and address complex hardware and software issues within technical control facilities.
- Collaborate with vendor support service organizations to facilitate escalation processes during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
- Manage end-to-end processes for the procurement, testing, installation, and support of network communications hardware and software.

Qualifications – Here’s What You Need
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in related network functions is preferred.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT).
- CompTIA Security+, or other equivalent certifications.
- Strong understanding of basic networking concepts, protocols, and practices.
- Proficiency in analyzing and troubleshooting network performance issues and providing efficient solutions.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and techniques for ensuring system uptime and performance.
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams and liaise with vendor service groups to address network challenges.
- Knowledge of network hardware/software configurations and capacity planning strategies.
- Effective communication and documentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work well under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- A Top-Secret Security Clearance is required.
- Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

- High-pressure decision-making during network outages and during critical project deadlines may require strong problem-solving capabilities and stress management skills.
