. Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitor quality assurance standards. - Grocery Clerk helps customers discover new items and answers questions about products.
- Inform customers of specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get what they want and need.
- Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
- Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products they have ordered.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions with recommendations.
- Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions about products.
- Support safety programs by complying with procedures and identifying unsafe conditions and notifying management.
- Inspect equipment and notify appropriate management of repair needs.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues.
- Provide support and assistance to diverse customers, including minors and individuals with special needs.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
