** SUMMARY OF DUTIES
** Provides management support and leadership for manufacturing and development engineers and technicians and/or maintenance staff. Provides technical support for the manufacture of existing products and the growth and development of new products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED
1.
Provides the site with recommendations and decisions regarding manufacturing engineering which have a positive financial impact on the company.  2.
Provides Merit with recommendations and decisions which uphold Merit's standards in providing quality product to the customer.  3.
Manages new product development projects from the Research & Development Department which are transferred to Manufacturing, as well as major process improvement and automation projects.  4.
Works with various departments and is responsive to their needs.  5.
Develops capital plans and budgets.  6.
Manages department personnel by interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating job performance, disciplining, scheduling work and other related responsibilities.  7.
Authorized to stop production or distribution of product manufactured at the facility if quality problems arise.  8.
May be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality System to include the specific requirements of domestic Quality System Regulation, QSRs, (21 CFR 820), international requirements of ISO 9001/EN 46001, MDD 93/42/EEC, and corporate policies.  9.
Maintains a safe work environment and ensures that employees in area of responsibility are properly trained and follow safety procedures.  10.
Performs other managerial tasks, as required.

• Field of vision/peripheral     SUMMARY OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.  
• Work related experience of at least four years in an engineering and project management role.  
• Must have a minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.  
• Must have a general knowledge of the medical device industry and the applications of Merit's products in the medical field.  
• Must be able to work under strict time constraints and meet deadlines in a timely manner.  
• Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to accomplish organizational objectives effectively.  
• Must be able to work as part of a management team and meet profitability goals efficiently.  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
• Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database and other applicable software programs.
