Job Description

  • Design and layout sprinkler systems using specialized CAD software packages based on the AutoCAD platform.
  • Coordinate sprinkler system piping with other building components and perform hydraulic calculations.
  • Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards to the design and/or layout of the sprinkler systems according to building type, construction type, hazard classification, and architectural features.
  • Perform field checks of completed designs to verify accuracy, if required.
  • Work closely with the Estimation department, Design Manager, and Operations Manager to review the scope sheet and project requirements.
  • Coordinate projects to meet delivery dates.
  • Communicate with AHJs, contractors, and other trades.
  • Coordinate with team members for listing required materials.
  • Coordinate with team members for permitting and inspection requirements.
  • Actively participate in predesign and review meetings.
  • Identify opportunities for cost‑saving measures and quality improvements.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe and professional workplace.
  • Provide outstanding customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Must have experience designing fire sprinkler systems.
  • NICET Level I–IV certification is preferred.
Work Experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of fire protection design experience or a Fire Sprinkler Design degree.
Skills And Competencies
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office;
    Hydra

    CAD is preferred.
  • Visualize 3D concepts and solve basic math problems, including geometry and algebra.
  • Proficient in interpreting and applying applicable NFPA standards and reading construction documents.
  • Must obtain and retain licenses required by national, state/province, and local codes.
  • Experience with a variety of system types and manufacturers.
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes such as IFC, NFPA, IBC, and NEC.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings.
  • Maintain accurate and auditable records.
  • Work effectively in a fast‑paced service/construction team environment.
  • Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel as needed.

  • 100% office setting, including sitting, some bending, lifting, walking, and viewing.
