Firefighter / EMT (Paramedic Preferred) – City of Pearland Fire Department
The City of Pearland, TX is hiring passionate and dedicated full-time Firefighters/EMTs (Paramedic preferred) to enhance and lead key aspects of our Fire Department’s daily operations.

Qualified candidates will be contacted and invited to test. Testing will be held at the Fire Administration Building located at 2703 Veterans Drive, Pearland, TX 77584.
- Optional PAT Run-through (Practice) – at Fire Training Field (2703 Veterans Drive, Pearland, TX 77584): 1/22/2025 at 9:00am.
- Written Test – at Fire Admin Building (2703 Veterans Drive, Pearland, TX 77584): 1/29/2025 at 8:00am (doors close at 8am and no applicant will be allowed entry after this time).
- PAT – to be conducted at 1:00pm following the Written Test on 1/29/2025.
- Out-of-State Applicant Interview Panel – to be conducted after successful passing of the Written Test on 1/29/2025.
- In-State Interview Panel – at Fire Admin Building (2703 Veterans Drive, Pearland, TX 77584): dates dependent on number of qualified candidates.
- Valid Driver’s License (Texas Driver’s License will be required within 60 days of hire).
- High School Diploma, or equivalent.
- Texas Commission on Fire Protection Basic Firefighter Certification, or IFSAC SEAL if from another state.
- Texas Department of State Health Services Emergency Medical Certification, or National Registry if from another state.
- Must be able to pass an online behavioral assessment, written test, physical agility test, interviews, background investigation, NFPA physical and drug screen, and breath alcohol screening.
Firefighter/EMT (Paramedic Preferred) earns a competitive hourly rate of $25.27-$26.03 based on average 2912 hours (depending on qualifications) and can potentially earn 8-hours of overtime for 18 cycles per year.
- City pays all premiums for dental, long-term disability protection, and life insurance, plus the majority portion of the medical premium for employees and their dependents.

Candidate Preference Ranking- Firefighter certified by TCFP and Paramedic certified by DSHS.
- Firefighter certified by TCFP and EMT-A or EMT-B.
- Paramedic certified by DSHS; must obtain TCFP Firefighter certification within 12 months of hire.
