Police Officer PRN

Overview

We are seeking an off‑duty Armed Police Officer (APO) for a part‑time PRN position at HCA Houston Healthcare Pearland. The position supports facility safety and security under the direction of the Security Manager.

Under the direction of the Security Manager or designee, the APO protects the facility’s assets, people, and programs. The APO establishes a visible security presence, identifies hazards, and takes corrective action to minimize harm.

• Support the hospital’s safety and security program to provide a secure physical environment.
• Assist patients, visitors and employees with dignity and respect and address their needs in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate compliance with relevant laws, regulations, facility policies and HCA’s Code of Conduct; report suspected violations.
• Conduct preventative patrols in and around the Emergency Department.
• Support enforcement of Temporary Detention Orders (TDO) or Emergency Custody Orders (ECO) when appropriate.
• Act as liaison between the hospital and local police during emergencies.
• Respond to emergency codes and provide security services as required.
• Assist in restraining patients under supervision of a physician or nurse.
• Prepare written reports including daily activity and incident reports; submit reports on all unusual incidents by shift end.
• Remain alert for and challenge individuals who appear out of place.
• Promote and maintain a safe environment in the Emergency Department and other hospital areas as needed.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

• Peace Officer / Law Enforcement certification (PEACE) or equivalent.
• Relevant law‑enforcement experience and knowledge of safety protocols.
