Job Title
Underground Construction Helper – Houston, TX
Job DescriptionAssist the foreman in the installation, service, and troubleshooting of automatic fire sprinkler systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Shadow experienced crew, learn to interpret project drawings, thread and groove pipe, cut hanger rods, and maintain a clean, organized worksite while using proper tools and equipment.
Responsibilities- Learn by shadowing and participating in all aspects of the fire sprinkler trade.
- Assist foreman with installation, service, and troubleshooting of automatic fire sprinkler systems and related equipment.
- Install fire sprinkler systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
- Interpret and apply project drawings, installation requirements, and layout details accurately.
- Thread and groove pipe, cut hanger rods, climb ladders, hang pipe, read blueprints, and use appropriate tools, lifts, and equipment.
- Maintain clean and organized job sites.
- Submit JSAs, toolbox talks, audit forms, incident and accident reports on time.
- Ensure timely and accurate timesheet submission, including job numbers, overtime, and travel pay.
- Adhere to all safety initiatives, safe driving practices, and company SOPs.
- Support production efficiency by monitoring budget vs. actual labor hours and communicating proactively with the superintendent.
- Participate in required team meetings and meetings with internal and external customers.
- Be willing to work overtime, on‑call, or out of town as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one year of experience as a fire sprinkler or construction helper (preferred).
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Valid state driver’s license and good driving record.
- Ability to take direction from upper management and work independently.
- Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, organized, communicative, and team‑focused.
- Demonstrate accurate measurement skills using tape or scales.
- Tool proficiency and equipment care.
- Safety training and incident reporting.
- Timesheet accuracy and material management.
- Customer satisfaction and quality control.
