Overview

  • Alarm Construction Technician responsibilities include installation, service, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
Responsibilities
  • Installation of fire alarm systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
  • Installation, service, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems and related equipment
  • Lead: oversee, direct, and delegate tasks to fulfill project deadlines and meet scheduling requirements
  • Ensure project results are achieved within financial and productivity budgets
  • Accurately complete and process paperwork (electronic or paper) as required by the office and management systems
  • Conduct and coordinate testing of the system; ensure required certifications are complete
  • Instruct and train helpers, apprentices, or other personnel in service, repair, and installation processes
  • Coordinate daily work schedules and direct daily tasks/productivity of assigned employees
  • Maintain inventory on vehicle
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Travel: willingness to travel frequently within the U.S. (up to 80%), often for several weeks; per diem and lodging provided per policy
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to fly are required

  • Maintain equipment maintenance and care (trucks, lifts, tools, etc.)
  • Keep jobsites clean and organized
  • Ensure production efficiency by monitoring budget vs. actual labor hours and communicating with the superintendent
  • Adhere to company SOPs (Purchase Orders, Change Orders, etc.)
  • Timely attendance and communication with supervisor; complete paperwork
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and address feedback opportunities
  • Maintain quality control to reduce return trips and warranty work
  • Maintain a professional appearance and professional communication with internal and external customers
  • Participate in required team meetings
  • Ability to work overtime, out of town, or on-call as needed
  • Must be able to travel frequently within the U.S. (up to 80%), often for several weeks
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of fire alarm systems and installation requirements
  • Ability to read fire alarm blueprints, submittals, and operation/product manuals
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Forklift and scissor lift certification preferred
  • State of Texas Fire Alarm License required
  • NICET Level II Fire Alarm and/or NICET Level II Special Hazards preferred
  • Understanding of NFPA codes and standards
Experience
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience
Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to take direction from upper management
  • Accurate paperwork completion and maintenance
  • Valid state driver’s license and good driving record
  • Self-motivated, ambitious, communicative, detail-oriented, organized
  • Knowledge of NFPA, NEC and local applicable codes
  • Experience with powered and hand tools, testing equipment, meters, and commissioning devices
  • Professional interaction with other trades, customers, project managers, and officials
  • Team leadership and mentorship abilities
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment; comply with safety practices
  • Deliver projects with high quality and customer satisfaction
