Senior Software Engineer, Core - Pearland

Overview

Senior Software Engineer to join Speechify’s Core Experiences Team in Pearland, USA. This team builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs powering Speechify’s product experience across platforms. The role combines product and infrastructure work, focusing on designing reliable APIs and simple systems that enhance the user experience.

• Collaborate with Product Teams to scope projects, reduce scope for faster customer feedback, navigate integration/UX tradeoffs, and deliver solutions via our cross-platform SDK
• Optimize existing functionality by designing efficient abstractions and improving algorithms for faster loading and smarter parsing
• Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin

• Systems thinking: understanding end-to-end design and valuing simplicity
• Speed: ability to generate ideas quickly and decide what can ship now vs. what needs more time
• Focus: ability to balance collaboration with heads-down work in a busy, remote startup
• Collaboration:
  
  experience inspiring and negotiating with designers, marketers, and PMs
• Preferred Tech Stack:
  • Kotlin Multiplatform (Java experience is OK but role focuses on Kotlin Multiplatform)
  • Prior experience with GCP is a plus

United States-based salary range: ,000 USD/year + bonus + stock, depending on experience
