Assistant Director of Transportation

To assist the director in managing the transportation and vehicle maintenance program of all district-owned vehicles, providing for the safe and efficient operation of the transportation department, and coordination of route services.

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT) Official or Administrator Certification preferred

• Working knowledge of pupil transportation principles
• Ability to manage personnel
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Class-B (or higher) CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements (or ability to obtain)
• Texas School Bus Driver Certification (or ability to obtain)
• Ability to pass annual Texas School Bus Driver physical exam

• Three years supervisory/leadership experience in pupil transportation
• Prior experience as a school bus driver
• Such alternative to the above as the Board may find appropriate

• Tools/Equipment Used:
  Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals;
• standard instructional equipment
• Posture:
  Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
• Motion:
  Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
• Lifting:
  Occasional light lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)
• Environment:
  Frequent district wide travel
• Mental Demands:
  Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
