Senior Quantity Surveyor – Fire Protection
Location:
Bermondsey Office & On-Site (London & UK-wide)
Salary: £65,000 per annum
Contract:
Full-time, Permanent
Role Overview :
We are seeking a commercially strong and operationally focused Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist fire protection contractor. The role involves taking full ownership of post-award commercial activities for fire doors, fire stopping, and wider passive fire protection projects, with project values typically ranging from £200k to £3m and durations of 2–10 months.
Key Responsibilities:
* Validate sold scopes and convert BOQs into operational documentation.
* Conduct site visits and measured surveys for fire doors, fire stopping, and passive fire works.
* Produce Scope of Works packs, cost sheets, and operational documentation.
* Prepare monthly valuations, sign off completed works, and manage variations.
* Oversee JCT contracts, including claims and disputes.
* Lead commercial discussions with clients and internal stakeholders.
* Manage pricing strategies, margin control, and commercial forecasting.
* Ensure compliance with BM Trada, ASFP, Building Safety Act, and project-specific standards.
* Act as a commercial advisor, mentoring a junior QS where applicable.
Experience &
Skills Required:
* 5+ years’ QS experience, ideally in fire protection or specialist MEP subcontracting.
* Strong measured survey capability and BOQ knowledge.
* Experience managing valuations, variations, and financial control under JCT contracts.
* Chartered Surveyor (RICS) or equivalent preferred.
* Competent with Excel, document production, and client-facing communication.
* Experience with Salesforce, One Trace, Procore, or similar systems.
* Knowledge of BM Trada schemes, ASFP guidance, and BSA Golden Thread requirements.
* Full UK driving licence.
