Hybrid working, with office attendance determined by site visits, meetings and business requirements We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Building Surveyor to join the Workplace team at London Fire Brigade (LFB) . This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining, improving and developing LFB's diverse property estate, helping to create safe, accessible and effective workplaces for the people who serve and protect London.

Working across a varied portfolio, you will take the lead on building maintenance, refurbishment, redecoration and improvement projects. You will provide professional building surveying expertise, manage contractors and suppliers, oversee programmes of work and ensure projects are delivered safely, effectively, on time and within budget. The role offers genuine variety. One day you could be investigating a building defect or reviewing a proposed technical solution, while another could involve managing contractors, visiting sites, reviewing project expenditure or advising stakeholders on property-related matters.

What you'll be doing As Senior Building Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:
Leading the delivery of reactive, planned maintenance, redecoration, refurbishment and building improvement works across the LFB estate. Managing contractors, consultants and supply-chain partners to ensure work is completed to the required quality, safety and compliance standards. Preparing client briefs, specifications, drawings and schedules of work and obtaining quotations and tenders for construction projects. Reviewing building defects and technical issues, identifying appropriate solutions and providing clear professional advice.

Monitoring project delivery to ensure works are completed on time, to specification and within agreed budgets. Reviewing risk assessments, method statements, certification and relevant health and safety documentation. Supporting compliance with relevant building regulations, legislation, codes of practice and Construction (Design and Management) requirements. Overseeing building asset information, technical records and forward works programmes. Monitoring budgets and expenditure, forecasting costs and providing financial and management information.

Working closely with colleagues across Property, Workplace, Sustainability, Procurement and other LFB teams. Providing professional guidance, leadership and support to colleagues within the team. Identifying opportunities to improve LFB's workplaces, including accessibility, inclusion and the overall workplace experience. Why join London Fire Brigade?
