A highly respected specialist primary setting in Peckham is seeking a confident and adaptable SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex needs.

Once both you and the school are confident the partnership is working well, a longer-term position will be offered, providing stability and continuity for you and the pupils you support.

The Role

You will work closely with pupils with a range of additional needs, supporting their learning, emotional regulation and social development. The school values adults who can bring positive energy, presence and emotional attunement into the classroom — professionals who understand how to read a room, hold attention and respond dynamically to changing situations.

The Successful Candidate Will:
Have at least 6 months of classroom experience, ideally within SEN
Be confident supporting pupils with complex or additional needs
Demonstrate strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
Be calm, responsive and physically engaged when required
Bring creativity, resilience and strong communication skills
Be a genuine advocate for inclusive, child-centred education

Individuals with backgrounds in performance, coaching, youth work or other roles requiring strong presence, adaptability and teamwork often thrive in this environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
Supporting emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour
Implementing structured routines while remaining flexible in approach
Assisting with differentiated learning activities
Encouraging movement, engagement and confidence-building
Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff
Maintaining high safeguarding standards at all times
