Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)

Part Time – 3 days per week
An outstanding and highly inclusive primary school in Rotherhithe, South East London is seeking an experienced and committed SENCO to join their leadership team from the Summer Term.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is confident, knowledgeable and ready to hit the ground running within a well-established SEND provision.
About the Role
The successful candidate will lead and strategically develop SEND provision across the school, ensuring that all pupils receive high-quality, inclusive support that enables them to thrive both academically and personally.
A comprehensive handover period will take place prior to the start date to ensure continuity and a smooth transition into the role.
The school has a strong inclusive ethos and provides support for pupils with a wide range of additional needs within a mainstream setting, including those with complex learning, communication and social needs. The SENCO plays a central role in maintaining high standards of provision and ensuring positive outcomes for all learners.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage SEND provision across the school
* Oversee EHCP processes, annual reviews and statutory requirements
* Work collaboratively with staff to ensure effective Quality First Teaching
* Support teachers with identification, planning and intervention strategies
* Liaise effectively with parents, external agencies and local authority services
* Monitor progress and impact through robust Assess–Plan–Do–Review cycles
* Contribute strategically to whole-school inclusion and safeguarding priorities
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Hold the National Award for SEN Coordination (or be working towards)
* Have significant SENCO experience within a primary setting
* Demonstrate strong knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice
* Be confident managing complex caseloads and multi-agency working
* Be organised, proactive and solution-focused
* Be ready to make an immediate impact within an established provision
* Have excellent communication and leadership skills
