Overhead Line Design Engineer

Consortium Professional Recruitment is proud to support our client in their search for an Overhead Line Design Engineer. Based in London, this position offers the chance to work on high-voltage infrastructure projects ranging from 33kV and above. As an OHL Design Engineer, youll work within a skilled multi-disciplinary team to develop design solutions for new and upgraded electricity transmission infrastructure.

Youll produce concept and detailed designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and help deliver safe, cost-effective, and buildable solutions for clients. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity offering long-term career progression and the chance to work on projects across the UK. This role is ideal for professionals with a background in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering, particularly those with experience in high-voltage design, OHL systems, or utility infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop concept and detailed designs for overhead line structures and systems Prepare and check technical reports, design intent documents, calculations, and analysis Work alongside Lead Engineers to support design delivery across project phases Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, health and safety, and CDM requirements Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including site teams and clients Review risk assessments and support construction implementation Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Key Requirements:

Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering Minimum 2 years post-graduate industry experience Familiarity with PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, or similar industry software (advantageous) Working knowledge of BS EN 50341 and other industry standards Strong communication and problem-solving skills Commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous development
