School Counsellor – SEMH & Trauma

Location:

Southwark, London
Salary: £28,914–£34,502 FTE (pro rata, dependent on experience)

Contract:

Part Time | Permanent | Term Time Only – 39 Weeks

Hours:

3 days per week | 8:30am–4:00pm | Tuesday essential

New Chapter Tuition is recruiting exclusively on behalf of a specialist independent school in Southwark for an experienced and compassionate School Counsellor.
You’ll provide therapeutic and emotional support to young people with complex SEMH and SEN needs, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, attachment difficulties and trauma.

The Role:

* Deliver 1:1 trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic interventions

* Facilitate group sessions around emotional regulation, anxiety and social skills

* Assess students’ emotional, psychological and social needs

* Provide crisis support, de-escalation and safety planning

* Work collaboratively with SENCOs, teaching staff, CAMHS and other professionals

* Maintain confidential records in line with safeguarding requirements

About You:

* Degree in Counselling, Psychology or a related field

* Accredited membership of a professional body such as BACP, NCS or UKCP

* Minimum 2 years’ counselling experience with children or young people

* Experience delivering trauma-informed therapeutic interventions

* Confident supporting ASD, ADHD, SEMH, anxiety and complex needs

* Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
