As we bring our Roadrunner eFuels facility in Pecos, Texas into operation, we're looking for Field Operator Technicians to safely and reliably run the equipment and process units that keep the plant producing-and to grow their careers alongside it.
The RoleThe Field Operator Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of field equipment and process units that support the eFuels plant. Working closely with the Board Operator, you will execute field tasks, monitor equipment performance, and respond to instructions issued from the control room. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician or operator with practical field experience who values teamwork, discipline, and attention to detail—and it provides a solid foundation for growth into Board Operator or Supervisory positions as your experience and technical competence develop.
WhatYou'll DoField Operations
- Operate and monitor production equipment, including pumps, distillation towers, separators, reactors, compressors, and storage systems.
- Conduct routine field inspections to ensure equipment is functioning within safe and optimal parameters.
- Execute instructions from the Board Operator, including valve adjustments, equipment startups/shutdowns, and manual operations.
- Record operating data (pressures, temperatures, flow rates) and report any deviations to the control room.
- Perform daily housekeeping in the unit.
- Maintain continuous communication with the Board Operator regarding plant conditions and field activities.
- Support shift handovers by providing accurate and detailed status updates.
- Coordinate with maintenance, electrical, and instrumentation teams to ensure timely repairs and minimize downtime.
- Work closely with other unit technicians and disciplines to achieve daily objectives.
- Provide feedback to Board Operators and Supervisors on potential process optimizations or recurring field issues.
- Maintain full knowledge of and adhere to the Company's Safety Program, and promote an accident- and incident-free work environment.
- Follow all company EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) procedures and Safe Work Permit requirements.
- Drive and enforce Energy Control - Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) policies and procedures, confined space entry, and hot work operations as required.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, leaks, or abnormal operations promptly.
- Support emergency response actions, including equipment isolation or evacuation, under supervision.
- Fulfill all environmental requirements on shift and ensure compliance with environmental control systems, such as flare, emissions, and spill containment procedures.
- Assist in isolating equipment for maintenance or troubleshooting activities.
- Perform basic maintenance and routine checks such as oil level inspections, filter changes, and gauge verification.
- Assist with calibration or testing support for instrumentation and control devices when required.
- Ensure all tools, vehicles, and field areas are maintained in good, clean, and safe condition.
- Maintain accurate field logs, checklists, and reports for shift activities.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- High school diploma or technical certificate.
- 3-6 years of field operations experience in oil & gas production, gas processing, or industrial plant settings.
- Solid understanding of production equipment (pumps, compressors, separators, valves, heaters).
- Ability to read P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and basic operating manuals.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Office, data entry systems, or maintenance logs).
- Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including days, nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Associate degree or trade school training in process operations or mechanical technology.
