Personal Care Aide/Homemaker/Companion – Make a Difference in Seniors’ Lives!Job Summary:
Join our team as a Personal Care Aide/Homemaker/Companion and provide crucial support to seniors in Birmingham, AL. In this role, you ll deliver compassionate in-home care, assisting with daily living activities and ensuring a comfortable, safe environment for clients.
Essential Responsibilities:- Daily Living Support
:
Assist clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility to enhance their independence and comfort. - Home Care Duties
:
Perform light housekeeping, including laundry and bed changes, and maintain a clean, safe home environment. - Meal Assistance
:
Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals; handle grocery shopping and kitchen clean-up. - Medication Reminders
:
Ensure clients adhere to their medication schedules as outlined in their care plans. - Observation & Reporting
:
Monitor and report any changes in clients’ health or home conditions to your supervisor. - Communication
:
Build positive relationships with clients, families, and team members through effective communication and professional conduct. - Training & Compliance
:
Complete all required training, documentation, and adhere to company policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Must pass state-mandated training and background checks (criminal, driving record, references).
- Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance.
- Strong interpersonal skills, confidentiality, and genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Follow detailed instructions and accurately document services.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with clients and team members.
- Demonstrate empathy, social perceptiveness, and strong organizational skills.
- Work in clients’ homes and drive to various locations.
- Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and infectious diseases.
- Moderate physical activity including lifting up to 25 pounds, standing, walking, and assisting clients.
