General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate maintains eye contact, smiles, greets customers courteously, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards across work centers, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of tasks in all store areas as business needs require and may be assigned additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Prioritizes safety and practices safe behaviors at all times
- Maintains awareness on the sales floor to create a safe environment, keeps egress clear, and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership
- Treats customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; recognizes fellow Associates using company recognition programs
- Assists customers: is register-trained, helps with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably; greets customers with eye contact and a smile, and thanks them at checkout
- Provides prompt responses to customers; handles service calls and escalates to Store Leadership when needed
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times
- Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies) to maintain store areas and merchandise presentation
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dress code
- Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised to standards
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per guidelines
- Understands Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards
- Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise
- Follows MOS policies for merchandise disposal and procedures for cash, checks, and refunds
- Demonstrates urgency to maximize productivity and follow store best practices

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments
Physical Requirements/Ada
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop
- Ability to push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies
- Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills
- Stockroom shifts may require regularly pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 20 pounds
