- troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, plc’s, cnc lathes, machine controls, and ac/dc servo drives in accordance with diagrams, sketches, plc programs, maintenance manuals, specifications from the manufacturer, approved industry standards, and established codes.
- know all of the tools required for the job. Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools, handheld programming unit, lap top computer, and precision – measuring and testing instruments. Know the proper usage of advanced measurement tools such as torque wrenches, calipers, etc.
Identify and utilize the latest technology tools for the job. - know how to read and work with complex blueprints and schematics. Use blueprints to learn how the equipment operates and reference assembly blueprints to identify and order replacement parts. Be able to suggest corrections and improvements to prints. With engineering approval and direction, revise blueprints / schematics upon change.
- know the different types of lubricants and their proper use for specific types of equipment. Repair and install all lubricating equipment, including air regulators, filters, cylinders, solenoid valves, and oil transfer pumps. Recognize lubrication problems and recommend corrective actions for repair/replacement.
- complete proper installation of shafts, sprockets, pulleys, gears, and bearings. Repair and maintain machinery. Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking equipment to make and repair parts. Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools. Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
Completely rebuild equipment with proper fit and functionality. Specify and select proper equipment components for existing applications. - know how to troubleshoot all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs with minor to no supervision. Able to teach and train others the techniques of troubleshooting. Efficiently use all of the appropriate resources to find solutions to stubborn problems. Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. Start and observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
- know the different types and functionality of solenoid, pressure, and pressure relief valves. Layout, assemble, install and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment. Work with blueprints and schematics to set up systems, and demonstrate understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic circuits. Perform all of the repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Efficiently use all of the appropriate resources to find solutions to stubborn problems. Modify electrical and hydraulic circuits with engineering direction, and make rough sketches of modifications to the electrical and hydraulic schematics. - know the proper operation of welding machines, saws, shears, press brakes, and equipment used for fabrication. Know the proper operation of a cutting torch. Perform vertical, overhead, and high-strength welding. Specify and fabricate all jobs from drawings and blueprints, if necessary.
- know how to perform basic and more difficult carpentry tasks such as rough construction and hanging drywall with exceptional appearance. Know how to install door and window additions. Read and work from blueprints if necessary to complete jobs. Specify materials and job requirements and complete the job from start to finish.
- replace plumbing fixtures and clear clogged drains. Know the different types of pipe and how to operate saws and pipe threading equipment. Perform all jobs including bending, cutting, threading, or sealing pipe, and upon completion, the job is square and plumb. Use resources inside and outside of the factory to find pipe ratings and effectively complete the job. Specify material list from job evaluation and/or blueprints.
- run conduit, pull wire, and maintain control cabinets for machines. Maintain and repair electrical systems of the plant using electrical testing meters, hand tools, and power tools. Connect wiring to motors, fixtures, and other electrical equipment, replace switches and fuses, change light bulbs, and perform wire splicing to join circuits. Read all electrical schematics.
