Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to oversee commercial electrical projects. This position is responsible for leading electricians and electrical crews in the field, coordinating daily work activities, maintaining project schedules, ensuring quality workmanship, and enforcing company and jobsite safety requirements.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong commercial electrical background who can effectively manage crews, read plans and specifications, coordinate with project management and other trades, and keep projects moving safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide daily direction to electricians, apprentices, and electrical crews.
  • Plan and coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and daily work activities.
  • Assign work and monitor crew productivity and workmanship.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and project documents.
  • Ensure installations comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC), project specifications, local requirements, and company standards.
  • Oversee installation of conduit systems, feeders, branch circuits, lighting, electrical distribution equipment, switch gear, panels, transformers, and related commercial electrical systems.
  • Coordinate electrical work with general contractors, project managers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other trades.
  • Identify field conflicts and help develop practical solutions before they impact the project schedule.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate manpower, material, scheduling, and production needs to project management.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, time records, material documentation, and other required field paperwork.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and verify that required materials and equipment are available when needed.
  • Perform and oversee electrical troubleshooting and testing as required.
  • Assist with system startup, commissioning, punch-list completion, and project closeout.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite.

Safety Responsibilities

The Electrical Supervisor is expected to take an active leadership role in jobsite safety.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting and participating in daily safety meetings and pre-task planning.
  • Completing and reviewing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs/JSA).
  • Enforcing proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Ensuring proper PPE is worn and maintained.
  • Ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements and company safety policies.
  • Maintaining compliance with NFPA 70E electrical safe-work practices.
  • Identifying unsafe conditions and correcting them immediately.
  • Ensuring employees are properly trained and qualified for assigned tasks.
  • Coordinating energized work permits and other required safety documentation when applicable.
  • Reporting and documenting incidents, near misses, and safety concerns.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of commercial electrical experience.
  • Previous experience supervising electricians or electrical construction crews.
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical construction drawings, specifications, and schematics.
  • Strong understanding of commercial electrical distribution and installation practices.
  • Experience with conduit installation and layout, including EMT and rigid conduit.
  • Knowledge of switch gear, transformers, panels, feeders, branch circuits, lighting systems, and related electrical equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and installation issues.
  • Ability to plan work, organize crews, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
