Overview
FT Registered Nurse - New Graduate Residency Program at Pella Regional Health Center. This RN New Graduate Residency is a unique employment opportunity for new graduates to train in several specialty nursing positions within PRHC. The rotations include Medical Surgical Unit, Post-Partum, and the Emergency Department, with potential opportunities in Surgery and Hospice as time permits. Shifts are balanced between night and day and last for about 6 months.
A supplemental Nurse Residency program supports new graduates.
- Orient to Medical Surgical Unit, Post-Partum, and Emergency Department; potential rotations in Surgery and Hospice.
- Work within assigned shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A) during the residency period.
- Float to areas as needed to fill staffing vacancies or leaves of absence where trained.
- Commitment to possible specialty areas for a minimum of one year after completion of coursework (if pursuing ICU, Labor & Delivery, or Emergency Nursing).
- Graduate of an accredited RN program; BSN preferred.
- Current Iowa RN license in good standing; continuing education as required to maintain licensure.
- Certification requirements:
Basic Life Support; dependent adult & child abuse training. - English reading and communication proficiency; strong empathetic listening, tact, and kindness.
- Effective verbal communication; ability to work well as part of a team.
- Basic computer knowledge and sound nursing judgment; knowledge of acute care nursing practices.
