The Governors of Ysgol Bro Penfro are delighted to invite applications for the position of Deputy Headteacher.

Ysgol Bro Penfro is a happy and inclusive Welsh-medium primary school situated in the historic town of Pembroke. Our pupils are at the heart of everything we do, and we are proud of the warm and supportive community we have developed with our families, staff and governors.

As Deputy Headteacher, you will be an integral member of our Leadership Team, working alongside the Executive Headteacher and a team of experienced staff to realise a clear vision of securing the best possible outcomes for every learner. You will have the opportunity to influence whole-school improvement, develop and embed innovative practices, and play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the school.

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have high expectations of themselves and others, experience and a passion for developing leadership at all levels, experience and evidence of excellent teaching and learning that has a positive impact on pupil outcomes, as these are key priorities within our School Development Plan.

The role will include:
  • Leading and developing high-quality teaching, learning and curriculum development across the school.
  • Leading people by modelling good practice to inspire and develop colleagues, set high standards and foster a culture of continuous improvement to secure excellent outcomes for all pupils.
  • Being an inspirational classroom practitioner who models excellent teaching and learning practices.
  • Leading the school in the absence of the Headteacher, providing confident, strong and strategic leadership that motivates and empowers staff, pupils and stakeholders to work collaboratively towards achieving the best possible outcomes.
  • Promoting pupil and staff wellbeing while developing strong partnerships with parents, carers and the wider community.
  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders, building strong professional relationships based on trust, respect and collaboration. Demonstrating a high level of emotional intelligence to support the wellbeing, engagement and success of every member of the school community.
  • Supporting effective change management and providing ongoing opportunities for staff professional development, fostering a culture of learning, reflection and continuous improvement.
