Salary: £14.27 per hour

• Ensure the exterior of the building and grounds are maintained to a safe and good standard
• Coordinate and control all building works and refurbishments with minimum disturbance to residents and staff
• Carry out routine monitoring and repairs on all systems and liaise with the Home Manager if specialist repairs are required
• Conduct regular tests and checks, including boiler function checks, fire alarm system activation and water service and temperature tests, and record results
• Advise the Home Manager on any potential maintenance problems, e.g. heating, refrigeration, electrical, gas or faulty equipment
• Comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act, COSHH and record all health and safety checks
• Maintain safety and cleanliness in line with Environmental Health, Fire and Safety at Work regulations
• Keep tools and equipment maintained and stored safely
• Act as first point of call for staff when repairs are required and assist with staff induction (e.g. emergency exits, fire points and evacuation procedures)
• Give advice over the telephone and be prepared to be called out to the home in emergencies when off duty
• Assist with driving the home’s minibus or similar vehicles for residents’ outings, as requested by the Home Manager
