Fabricator
Typically, this person will be an experienced Fabricator with a strong marine or shipbuilding background, capable of producing and installing high-quality fabricated components in accordance with engineering drawings and project specifications.
HSB Technical's client is an established and well-regarded business operating within the marine and shipbuilding sector.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Fabricator- Fabricate and assemble marine structures and components to a high standard.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and technical specifications.
- Measure, mark out, cut, shape and prepare materials for fabrication.
- Carry out fitting, grinding and finishing work on fabricated components.
- Work with a range of materials, including mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
- Install and modify fabricated components onboard vessels and within a marine environment.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets the required quality and dimensional standards.
- Work closely with welders, engineers and other trades to meet project deadlines.
- Follow all site health and safety procedures and maintain a clean and organised working area.
- Previous fabrication experience within the marine, shipbuilding, heavy engineering.
- Confident reading and working from technical and fabrication drawings.
- Skilled in marking out, cutting, forming, fitting and assembling fabricated components.
- Experience working with steel, stainless steel or aluminium.
- Able to work independently and as part of a wider project team.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
- Relevant trade qualifications or apprenticeship would be advantageous.
