Administration Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Secretarial Team within Renal Services as a Band 2 Administration Assistant. The post holder will provide an efficient administrative service to the clinicians and their teams.

The successful candidate will work within a team of secretarial staff but also have the ability to work independently, following Policies and Procedures. Excellent communication skills, flexibility, reliability and an organised approach to work are required.

Main duties of the job
  • Keeping VR dictation and typing up to date for the clinical team
  • Opening and distributing post
  • Making ad-hoc appointments
  • Ad-hoc admin duties as requested by the clinical team
  • Talking to patients over the telephone and ensuring their queries are dealt with efficiently
Job responsibilities
  • To support the provision of an efficient admin and clerical service within the operational services department.
  • To ensure patient documents are prepared, updated and available in a timely manner.
  • Provide information to patients, relatives and staff.
  • Deal with telephone enquiries promptly.
  • To ensure that data input is amended as necessary.
Qualifications & Education
  • Good standard of English, grammar, punctuation and spelling at GCSE or equivalent level
Knowledge & Experience
  • Previous experience working within the NHS
  • Knowledge of the eRecord System
Skills & Abilities
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective organisation and time management skills
