Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: One to one Teaching Assistant for a child with hearing impairments
Have you ever worked with a child with hearing impairments before? Do you have experience in working with children who are deaf or who have used British Sign Language?

If so, we’d love to hear from you!

I’m currently working in partnership with a large, well-established primary school in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan to recruit an exceptional one-to-one Teaching Assistant, starting in September for the rest of the academic year 2026.

This is a full-time, term-time position (Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm), offering a daily rate of £92.63 (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break).

In this role, you will provide dedicated one-to-one support to a pupil in Key Stage 1 who is partially deaf. The child requires consistent, nurturing support during social interaction, and engagement within the classroom.

This isn’t just another classroom role—this is an opportunity to build a meaningful, trusting relationship and play a key role in shaping a child’s experience of education. You’ll need to bring patience, empathy, and creativity, adapting your communication style to meet the child where they are, tapping into their interests, and helping them feel safe, understood, and motivated to learn.

The ideal candidate will have experience or a strong understanding of:

Hearing impairments
Cochlear implants
Makaton / BSL
You’ll be joining a supportive and collaborative school environment that values teamwork, clear communication, and a shared commitment to delivering the very best outcomes for every pupil.

If you have at least 3 months’ experience working with children and are ready to step into a rewarding full-time role, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now with your up-to-date CV. Successful applicants will be contacted by Emma Thomas to discuss the next steps and begin a streamlined registration process (typically completed within a week, subject to DBS and EWC clearance)

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
