An exciting opportunity has become available for a passionate and experienced SEN Teacher to join a forward-thinking ALN school in Penarth for the new academic year (2026/27). This role is perfect for educators who thrive in specialist environments and are committed to supporting pupils with additional learning needs through innovative, sensory-led teaching
.
You will be working with primary-aged pupils with ALN
, delivering a broad and engaging curriculum tailored to individual needs. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams
, you’ll ensure communication, regulation, and sensory strategies are meaningfully embedded into daily learning.
This is not a mainstream teaching role it requires creativity, adaptability, and a genuine interest in sensory curricula to support learners with sensory impairments or regulation difficulties.
Key responsibilities include:- Delivering engaging, differentiated lessons across the primary curriculum
- Implementing and reviewing Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
- Supporting pupils’ emotional regulation and communication needs
- Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborating with therapists, support staff, and fellow teachers

- Experienced in SEN or ALN school settings
- Confident in adapting teaching strategies to meet complex needs
- Able to inspire curiosity, confidence, and enjoyment in learning
- Calm, empathetic, and resilient during high-pressure situations
- Open to continuous learning and professional development
Based in Penarth
, this well-established ALN school supports approximately 500 pupils aged 3–19
, all with additional learning needs.

To be considered, you will need:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (or currently completing)
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service
