The College of Integrative Studies (CIS) at Singapore Management University(SMU) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Urban Informatics.
The position is opento candidates with researchexpertiseacross the field of Urban Informatics, including but not limited to developing novel methods and techniques, exploringdiverseapplications, and investigating use and systems. Research that connects withSMU’sresearch focus areasin Digital Transformation, Sustainable Living, and Growth in Asia is particularly welcome, though not required.
We areopen to applicants at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levels, and welcome applications from senior candidates. Strong candidates at the Associate or Full Professor levels will be considered for tenure upon appointment.
Established in 2022,CIS is home to a strong community of interdisciplinary scholars and plays a pivotal role in helping students traverse the disciplinary areas associated with the other SMU Schools—Accountancy, Business, Economics, Computing, Law, and Social Sciences.
The CIS delivers the University’s Core Curriculum for all undergraduate students and offers a suite of programmes including Singapore’s firstindividualizablemajor at the undergraduate level,the interdisciplinary Master of Sustainability,and MPhil and PhD programmes in Asian Urbanisms.
- Publish research in leadingdisciplinary and/or interdisciplinaryjournals. Although not required, faculty are encouraged to undertake orparticipatein interdisciplinary research.
- Successfully apply for competitive external research funding.
- Depending on rank, deliver between2to 3 sections per year of undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses.
Teaching will be decided in consultation with the Dean/Associate Dean andlikely includecontributing to the Undergraduate Core Curriculum. - Mentor undergraduate and/or postgraduate students in academic and academic-related affairs.
- Provide service to the College and University, including serving on committees,participating in events,outreach and admissions activities and, where appropriate, engaging with industry and other stakeholders.
- Already hold or expect to be awarded a PhD in Urban Informatics or a relevant discipline by the time ofhire.
- Demonstratea strong track recordof high impact research asevidencedby publications and external research funding (at the Associate or Full Professor levels) or clear indications of that trajectory (Assistant Professor level).
- Have evidence of excellence in teaching and bewilling to engage in or develop innovative teaching methods.
