Position Purpose
The Assistant Piping Manager supports the Piping Manager in the planning, execution, and control of piping engineering activities for EPC projects. This role is part of succession planning, intended to develop leadership, technical, and managerial capabilities to eventually assume the Piping Manager position. The role ensures technical quality, schedule adherence, cost control, and compliance with JGC, client, and international engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities A.Engineering & Technical Oversight
Assist in managing piping design and engineering activities across all project phases (FEED, Detail Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning).
Review and approve:
- Piping layouts and 3D models
- P&IDs and line lists
- Stress analysis reports
- Isometrics and MTOs
- Material specifications and piping classes
Ensure compliance with:
- International codes and standards (ASME, API, ASTM, ISO)
- Client specifications
- Engineering procedures
Project Management Support
Support the Piping Manager in:
- Resource planning and workload distribution
- Engineering schedule development and monitoring
- Man‑hour estimation and control
- Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, and construction teams to ensure integrated design
- Participate in project review meetings, HAZOPs, and constructability reviews
Leadership & Team Development
Supervise and mentor:
- Piping Engineers
- Designers and Draftsmen
Act as Deputy Piping Manager during the Piping Manager’s absence. Support competency development and knowledge transfer within the piping team. Promote a strong culture of engineering excellence, safety, and accountability.
D.Interface & Stakeholder Management
Interface with:
- Clients and licensors
- Vendors and subcontractors
- Construction and commissioning teams
Support technical clarifications, vendor document reviews, and site queries. Assist in resolving engineering and construction issues in a timely manner.
E.Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure piping engineering deliverables meet QA/QC requirements. Promote compliance with HSE requirements, constructability, and maintainability. Participate in audits, lessons learned sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience Education- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 12–15 years of experience in piping engineering within EPC projects.
- At least 3–5 years in a lead or senior piping role.
- Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, LNG, or energy transition projects preferred.
- Strong knowledge of piping design principles
- Stress analysis (CAESAR II or equivalent)
- 3D modeling tools (PDMS, E3D, SP3D)
- Familiar with EPC execution methodologies.
- Sound understanding of constructability and site engineering.
