Job Description & How to Apply Below
We have an opportunity for a Senior Structural Technician to join a highly regarded multidisciplinary engineering consultancy based in Cardiff. This is a key hire within an established structural team, offering the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the delivery of technically challenging projects across the education, healthcare and residential sectors. The business has built a strong reputation for quality, collaboration and long-term client relationships.
You’ll work closely with experienced Structural Engineers and Technicians on a varied portfolio, with a significant focus on education schemes typically valued around £20m. The project pipeline also includes larger developments ranging from £70m to £100m, alongside healthcare facilities and residential schemes. There is clear scope for involvement in larger residential and commercial tower projects as the office continues to expand.
In this position, you’ll take ownership of producing high-quality technical drawings and 3D models, contributing from early concept through to construction. You’ll be joining a supportive, forward-thinking team that values technical excellence and encourages progression.
The client is looking for an experienced Structural Technician who is confident working in a consultancy environment and capable of managing their own workload. Strong Revit skills are essential, and experience producing coordinated BIM models is key. RC detailing experience would be highly advantageous, although not essential for the right candidate. You should be comfortable liaising with engineers, architects and external consultants to ensure accurate and efficient project delivery.
What’s On Offer
Opportunity to work on major projects up to £100m in value.
A clear progression pathway within a growing Cardiff office.
Exposure to high-profile education and healthcare developments.
Flexible/hybrid working arrangements.
A collaborative team culture with direct access to senior leadership.
Involvement in expanding sectors including high-rise residential and commercial projects.
What You Need To Succeed
Proven experience as a Structural Technician within a UK design consultancy.
Strong proficiency in Revit with experience delivering coordinated structural models.
Ability to produce accurate technical drawings across steel, concrete and timber structures.
Experience with RC detailing (advantageous but not essential).
Understanding of UK construction standards and detailing practices.
Experience working on education and healthcare projects.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Organised, proactive approach with the ability to manage deadlines independently.
Educated to HNC/HND level (or equivalent)
