Clerical Officer - Lung Function

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self‑motivated Clerical Officer to join our busy Outpatients Service based in the Lung Function and Sleep Apnoea Service in University Hospital Llandough.
The post holder will look forward to a challenging and rewarding work environment, in which finding a balance between team working and using initiative is key.
Experience of working with the public in a Healthcare setting and use of IT systems would be an advantage.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;

- Make and receive telephone calls from all stakeholders to include patients, relatives, and General Practice. Politely establish caller's needs and accurately record and action.
- Positively engage with the general public by meeting and greeting patients and clerking them into the department.
- Add to patient waiting lists, booking, cancelling and amending patient appointments to ensure all patient lists are booked adequately and cancellation slots are utilised.
- Action all received referrals in timely fashion, depending on urgent or routine nature. Recognise and highlight any referrals for supervisory action not meeting access criteria.
- Work within the team of Respiratory Physiologists to provide clerical assistance within the department.

Person Specification All- Minimum 5 GCSE grades or equivalent
- ECDL Certificate or equivalent word processing/typing qualification
- Experience in clerical role
- Experience working with public
- Experience with phones and PCs
- Experience working with MDT team
- Organised and methodical, attention to detail
- Experience using PMS
- interest in science
- experience as supervisor / leader
- ability to manage own workload
