RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a motivated Part‑Time Research Assistant to support an organisation‑wide research project examining the well‑being and outcomes of service users across our services. This role sits within the Centralised Research Unit at Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities and offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful applied research in the social service sector.
This role is suited for individuals seeking flexible or part-time work arrangements (20–40 hours per week), including graduate students, mid‑career professionals, or those transitioning between roles. This position is a 1‑year contract.
Key Responsibilities- Support participant recruitment across service areas, including adults with disabilities, families, and seniors
- Communicate with participants and administer questionnaires
- Assist with data cleaning and management
- Develop or support automated workflows for data extraction (e.g., using scripts or data tools)
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with research ethics and data protection standards
- A degree in social sciences or related fields
- Proficiency in English and at least one additional language (Chinese, Malay, or Tamil) to engage a diverse range of participants
- Experience or familiarity with research methods and data analysis
- Basic technical skills in data handling and automation (e.g., Excel, Python, R, or similar tools)
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
- Willing to travel to different centres as required
- (Preferred) Prior experience in social service, community research, or programme evaluation
- (Preferred) Experience working with diverse or vulnerable populations
- Hands‑on experience in large‑scale applied research within the social service sector
- Exposure to a diverse range of service users in the social service sector
- Opportunities to build skills in data analysis and research operations
