Role Title

Senior Operations Technician - Conjugates (Pencoed) – permanent basis. Following the initial 3–6 month training period, the role will revert to a standard Monday to Friday schedule (37 hours per week). During training, a 7-day fortnight shift pattern applies (5 shifts in week one and 2 shifts in week two, with every other weekend worked).

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Formulate conjugate concentrates using BTR and/or Electronic Batch Records; operate balance, pipettes, stirred cell concentrators, centrifuge, UV spectrophotometer and filtration equipment.
  • Use SAP for raw material and planning requirements; operate AKTA systems including manual fraction collection where needed.
  • Update and maintain spreadsheets and control charts for trend analysis for each Conjugate Concentrate.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (QRS/GMP, ISO, etc.) and identify and record anomalous observations.
  • Maintain compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental regulations; keep equipment calibrated and maintained; keep the lab clean and monitor micro environment.
  • Adhere to the manufacturing plan, including pooling of Conjugate Concentrates.
  • Prepare in-process warning limit breach paperwork (RZ and percentage yield); formulate test dilutions for in-process tests and interpret results with recommended actions.
  • Collaborate with Reagent Formulations, Technical Support, Quality Engineering and other departments as required.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • Qualified to a minimum of GCSE level, including Maths and a relevant science subject (Chemistry preferred), or equivalent operational experience in Diagnostics or a similar industry.
  • Experience of laboratory work and using pipettes and weighing balances.
  • Microsoft Office experience (Excel highly desirable).
  • Strong verbal communication within the operational team, with contract staff, and with other departments.
  • Ability to perform basic problem solving and apply ethical thinking in decision-making.
  • Hardworking, reliable with good attendance and timekeeping; ability to manage complex processes and systems.
