Location:Pencoed, South Wales
Quidel Ortho has been manufacturing products in South Wales for over 40 years. Our state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facility, based in Pencoed, employs over 600 people who are involved in the manufacture and supply of clinical laboratory and immunohematology products to sites across the globe.
About the Raw Material Continuity TeamThe team manufactures a large menu of immunohematology products used in transfusion medicine; in addition to a large menu of immunoassay products encompassing a range of disease categories. The team operates both globally and locally, all employees working towards a common goal: to help save and improve lives through diagnostics.
Role OverviewAs a Scientist I within our Raw Material Continuity team, you will be accountable for the verification/validation activities required to achieve the Shelf‑Life Extension of critical and/or high‑value Raw Materials.
What You’ll Be Doing- Project management of verification/validation activities to achieve Shelf‑Life Extension of critical or high‑value Raw Materials in accordance with Quality Systems, Standards and Regulations as defined in Quidel Ortho's Quality Manual.
- Processing, analysing data and drawing conclusions.
- Ownership/oversight of Change Request/Notices and other quality documentation in line with project timelines and business needs.
- Conducting scientific lab operations, including competent use of lab equipment such as pipettes and balances, and trained use of other analytical instruments and Quidel Ortho end‑user equipment, ensuring compliance with GLP, GDP and EHS standards.
- Performing interpretation, analysis and documentation of scientific data, providing conclusions and recommendations to the business based on data extracted from investigations/projects.
- Supporting the Restocks/Supplier team projects and participating in QO Improvement Culture (QIC) and Cost Improvement Projects (CIP) to support Pencoed Operations goals and objectives.
- Ideally degree educated in a relevant scientific discipline, or possessing relevant experience in a similar role and industry.
- Demonstrable data analysis skills; prior experience with Minitab and Excel is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Operations/Manufacturing environments.
