Job Summary

The Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) is a healthcare provider who, through education and experience, possesses a distinct body of knowledge and skills related to the care of adult patients with life‑threatening conditions requiring complex clinical assessment, technology‑intensive therapies, and interventions. The RN applies specialized nursing knowledge to assess, implement, and evaluate patient responses, initiates nursing care, provides health teaching and counseling, and works under the direction and supervision of appropriate client representatives on the Adult Critical Care Unit.

Compensation: $63/hour

Education

Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.

License

Current and unrestricted RN nursing license in the state of practice.

Experience

One year of experience as an RN in an Adult Critical Care Unit in the last two years.

Credentials

Current CPR at least to the ACLS level; TNCC may be required by some client facilities. Health and screening tests as required by specific facilities and/or regulatory agencies.

Environmental Working Conditions

Various client facility settings; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.

Responsibilities
  • Comply with ATC policies and procedures.
  • Comply with client facility nursing policies and procedures.
  • Conduct individualized patient assessments, prioritizing data collection based on individual needs and condition.
  • Perform ongoing nursing assessments as dictated by patient condition and client protocols.
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
  • Perform treatments and therapies as ordered by physicians in a timely manner.
  • Perform hemodynamic monitoring as ordered by physicians.
  • Provide individualized patient and family teaching.
  • Document patient assessments, findings, and psychosocial responses to nursing interventions.
  • Initiate emergency measures according to adult resuscitation protocols.
  • Maintain confidentiality relating to patient, family, facility, and staff in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Advocate patient rights regarding advance directives and organ donation.
  • Provide non‑judgmental, non‑discriminatory care that respects cultural diversity and age appropriateness.
  • Report patient condition to appropriate personnel during each shift.
  • Maintain competency in adult critical care nursing by participating in continuing education and meeting state requirements.
  • Exercise ethical conduct and professional standards of nursing practice as set forth by the American Nurses Association.
  • Demonstrate effective delegation.
