Waste and Cleansing Supervisor – Craigmillar Depot

Salary: £34,452 – £40,501. 36 hours per week, 4×4 day shift 06:00‑17:02. Valid driving licence required.

• Manage day‑to‑day operations of a designated group of Waste and Cleansing staff.
• Oversee delivery of street cleaning, waste and recycling collection, litter collection from open spaces, street washing, graffiti removal and environmental inspections.
• Act as first point of contact with the public, providing advice, responding to problems and coordinating with Council colleagues.
• Support or take appropriate environmental enforcement actions as directed by line management.
• Plan, prioritise and allocate staff and resources; use route‑planning/optimisation software and mobile technology.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and that staff and drivers are fitted with and use uniform and PPE.
• Brief staff on performance, working‑practice changes, service developments and provide access to HR policies.
• Issue documentation to crews and monitor progress and completion throughout the day.
• Use performance data to monitor and manage resources, addressing exceptions and issues appropriately.

• SVQ Level 3 in an environmental‑related subject or equivalent.
• Valid driving licence.
