We have an exciting opportunity for Surveyors to join the High Rise Management and Investment team. The successful applicants will join the Investment team who are delivering on the teams ambitious, and award-winning, capital improvement programme.

The successful applicant will deliver a full range of building surveying and contract management services to the 50 Council high-rise blocks which encompass a range of specialised and innovative construction methods as part of the Whole House Retrofit Strategy. These works will ensure we achieve the Councils long-term sustainability ambitions and also enhance the quality of our high-rise buildings, the homes within and the standard of living for our residents.

Recent awards include Silver in the Scottish Design Awards for 'Future Project/Building' for the retrofit of Cables Wynd & Linksview House, and we have also recently been shortlisted for the AJ's Retrofit & Reuse Awards in the category of 'Future Reuse' for the same project.

You will have the opportunity to work with external multi-disciplinary design teams and contractors on large scale retrofit and upgrade projects across the Council’s high-rise estate. We currently have a number of design commissions at various RIBA design stages covering 14 high rise blocks with another five additional blocks scheduled for design of full fabric upgrade this year with a budget of around £250m.

We also have a live £60m fire improvement programme covering 30 high rise blocks which is one of the most ambitious domestic fire safety programmes in the UK. Further large scale mechanical and electrical improvement programmes planned to commence early design also this year.

We are looking for candidates who can use their initiative, be innovative in their approach and have a desire to assist and support council tenants and private owners during works being carried out in and around their homes. The successful candidate will have the relevant qualifications, as a Building Surveyor or in a relevant field (i.e. Architect, Technical Lead, or Contract/Project Manager) with knowledge and experience of running live projects through to completion with recent and relevant experience of project management and contract administration preferred.

You should have knowledge, and ideally experience, of procurement, surveying, repair methodology and report writing and be confident to meet and explain technical reports at face-to-face meetings with tenants and owners. Candidates should also be willing to attend the occasional evening meetings with residents, be confident in supporting a busy team, and have strong communication skills.

If you are someone interested in working on a range of large and complex major infrastructure programmes, promoting best practice in retrofit and health and safety compliance, as part of team with a high performing culture, driving change and service delivery, we would love to hear from you.
