35 per week

About the school

Currie Community High School is situated to the south west of the City of Edinburgh and serves the communities of Currie, Riccarton, Juniper Green and Baberton Mains. The school has served the local community for some 350 years. As a designated community high school, a quality community programme is offered. The school’s SQA results are above both local and national averages and an extensive range of wider achievement opportunities are offered.

The school is firmly committed to raising attainment and promoting positive achievement, leading to a high level of positive and sustained destinations.

Role and responsibilities
  • Manage and lead a team of teaching staff within the Enhanced Support Base to ensure high‑quality teaching and learning, maximizing attainment and achievement for all pupils.
  • Provide specialist support for young people with severe and complex additional support needs.
Requirements
  • Regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 – candidate must join the PVG Scheme or undergo an update check.
  • An Overseas Criminal Record Check is required if the candidate has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years.
  • Unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to satisfactory outcome of these pre‑employment checks.
