Portobello High School is a six-year comprehensive based in the East of Edinburgh with a roll of over 1,500 students. The school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities, strong community partnerships, and a commitment to inclusive education.
Role OverviewThe successful candidate will join a large staff team in a forward‑thinking Department of General Education (BGE). The role involves teaching BGE numeracy classes and delivering small group intervention to support all learners.
Responsibilities- Plan, teach, and assess numeracy lessons for BGE students.
- Deliver targeted small‑group numeracy intervention sessions.
- Collaborate with the wider staff team to enhance numeracy delivery across the school.
- Support inclusive practice and contribute to the school’s inclusive culture.
- Qualified primary teacher (or equivalent) with experience teaching numeracy.
- Strong teaching skills and enthusiasm for inclusive education.
- Experience working within a comprehensive school setting is desirable.
- Applications from suitably qualified primary teachers will be considered.
Applications will be subject to the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate must join the PVG Scheme or undergo an update check. An overseas criminal record check is required for those who have spent three months or more outside the UK in the last five years. An unconditional offer will only be made if all checks are deemed satisfactory.
Salary& Benefits
Salary will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
