Housing Officer – Temporary Accommodation

North East Locality Office

Salary: £33,287 - £39,129

Hours:

36 per week, 52 weeks

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Housing Officer position in The City of Edinburgh Council’s Temporary Accommodation Service, within Housing and Homelessness.

Responsibilities
  • Improve the quality of life of our customers
  • Provide a range of housing management services, information, assessment and advice services to tenants, homeless people and other customers
  • Coordinate other housing and support services to support customers and ensure effective delivery of housing and homelessness services
  • Work to legislative and good practice requirements in collaboration with statutory services and partner organisations
  • Display resilience and take ownership of tasks, keeping up to date with current legislation and changes
  • Put customers first and respond sensitively to their needs, many of whom may face significant challenges
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007
  • Preferred candidate to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check; otherwise must provide an updated check if spent continuous period 3 months or more out of the UK in last 5 years
  • Required to provide an Overseas Criminal Record Check
  • Unconditional offer of employment and commencement subject to satisfactory outcome of pre‑employment checks
