That next generation is Tempest - the RAF's newest combat aircraft, coming into service from 2035 to replace the existing Eurofighter Typhoon.

Based at our Edinburgh or Newcastle site we have an opportunity for a talented Dev Ops Engineer to join our enthusiastic and highly motivated Tempest software engineering team. As a Dev Ops Engineer, you’ll…

• Enhance the Tempest project’s Dev Ops capability, especially in the areas of automated test, automated deployment to hardware, and acceleration of software releases
• Work in or alongside the central Dev Ops team to identify enhancements to the pipelines required by the software engineering team
• Develop and maintain our Dev Ops tooling, making it robust and enhancing the developer experience
• Support troubleshooting, and provide guidance on secure CI/CD practices across the team
• Help to administer and integrate core tooling and infrastructure, including build systems, artifact repositories, and security scanning tools, while managing server resources and ensuring compliance with security standards
• Support rigorous qualification of the tooling and infrastructure to enable its use with projects adhering to the DO-178C software development standard

We are a multidisciplinary team looking for candidates with a diverse mix of skills and experiences. An ideal candidate doesn't need to meet every requirement, what matters most is your ability to learn, adapt and contribute.

What you’ll bring

• Programming/Scripting (e.g. C++, Python, JavaScript)
• CI/CD pipeline design and administration (Jenkins, Gitlab)
• CI/CD application and server administration
• Automation, monitoring and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices
• Writing clear technical documentation, guides and specifications
• Containerisation technologies (Docker, Podman)

• Strong problem-solving and engineering mindset
• Familiarity with the software development lifecycle
• Knowledge of the DO-178C software development standard and associated DO-330 Tool Qualification guidelines
• Effective communication and teamwork
• Curiosity, creativity and a drive for continuous improvement

This is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above. The most important skill is a good attitude and willingness to learn.
