Salary: £26,205–£26,525 (pro rata for part time and sessional)
Working pattern:
Monday to Friday 16:00–19:00
As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you will be a key member of the Facilities Management team, delivering vital cleaning services across our estate to ensure our properties are safe and clean places to work or learn. Key Responsibilities- Empty litter and recycling bins.
- Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within a group of buildings.
- Clean all sanitary areas, toilets and showers and replenish washroom consumables.
- Perform emergency and reactive cleaning as required (e.g., removal of graffiti, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages).
- Care for and maintain equipment used in carrying out the duties.
- Support cleaning tasks across other buildings as reasonably required.
- Deliver to the cleaning specification requirements and cooperate with performance measurement to meet overall agreed standards.
As a cleaning operative you will also be a key holder, operating security alarms and ensuring premises are secured when closed.
Requirements- Regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007; required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG update check.
- Overseas Criminal Record Check required if spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years.
- Clear pre‑employment checks (PVG and OCIC) are required for unconditional offer of employment and commencement.
