Cleaning Operative – Prestonfield Primary School

Salary: £26,205 - £26,525 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional);

Hours:

10 per week, 40 weeks sessional;
Working pattern for position 5pm - 7pm, Monday - Friday

As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you will be a key member of the Facilities Management team, delivering vital cleaning services across our estate to ensure our properties are safe and clean places to work or learn. • Empty litter and recycling bins.
• Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within a group of buildings.
• Clean all sanitary areas, toilets and showers and replenish washroom consumables.
• Provide emergency and re‑active cleaning as required (e.g., removal of graffiti, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages).
• Maintain care and cleanliness of all equipment used in carrying out the above duties.
• Carry out other tasks that may reasonably be required, including supporting cleaning tasks across other buildings where necessary.
• Deliver cleaning specification requirements and cooperate with performance measurement to meet overall agreed standards.

Keyholding responsibilities are part of this role. You will be required to be a key holder to enable opening and closing of buildings you service, operate security alarm systems when opening, close accessible windows and doors, switch off lights, and leave premises safe and secure when closing.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. An Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required if an individual has spent a continuous period of three months or more outside the UK in the last five years.

These checks must be satisfactory for an unconditional offer of employment and commencement.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and increases annually until it reaches the top of the range.
