The CREER BIM EC project focuses on the creation of a prototype road pavement, constructed partly
from recycled materials, capable of recovering energy and water resources even in harsh environmental
conditions. The prototype design is entirely digitalized according to Building Information Modeling (BIM),
and one of its main objectives is to use bituminous mixes for the draining wearing course (porous
asphalt) and base layer with high bearing capacity, by recycling end of-waste materials such as plastics
and reclaimed asphalt. To this end, the research program involves extensive laboratory work on
bituminous materials, including:
- Mix-design of porous asphalt with different recycled content;
- Performance testing of porous asphalt with different recycled content;
-Mix-design of bituminous mixtures with different recycled content for base layer;
- Performance tests on bituminous mixtures with different recycled content for base layer.
