The research activity will be carried out within the national project “Space It Up !”: a program aiming at enhancing the space technology of Italy to be used for space exploration and exploitation for the benefit of planet Earth and the entire humankind. The research team is involved in Spoke 7 “Space for the sustainable development of the planet”. Spoke 7 aims at developing EO with breakthrough potential for operational services of the future.
Innovation is expected in both instrument and algorithm technologies. The researcher will contribute to the development of the project’s research lines within the macro-themes “Resilience to extremes” and “Sustainable water and food”, with the aim of developing advanced EO models for monitoring biogeophysical variables associated with water and biological resources in relation to land cover and vegetation, and the characterization of extreme hydrometeorological and climatic events.
