Overview
Electrical Engineer role s position is part of HDR's Tech, Media and Telecom (TMT) practice and focuses on electrical design for Data Center and other mission critical buildings and infrastructure. The role includes mentoring and training younger electrical engineers.
Opportunities are available in multiple locations in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Primary Duties- Mentoring/Managing
- Help grow a team that promotes collaboration, career growth, high-quality construction documents, client satisfaction, and peer safety support.
- Coordinate the work of Electrical Engineers, EITs, and BIM Specialists with a multidisciplinary team throughout the project.
- Mentor, organize, and facilitate the growth of junior staff.
- Coordinate workload to complete documents on schedule.
- Technical
- Play a substantial role in electrical design for data center/mission critical projects.
- Work with clients to understand project requirements around reliability, growth, life cycle costs, sustainability, schedules, and future flexibility.
- Provide detailed design and coordination with multidisciplinary team members.
- Attend design meetings and lead electrical discussions.
- Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines.
- Participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
- Provide design support during construction including field observations, submittal reviews, RFI support.

- Perform other duties as needed.
- Travel:
Some travel to job sites or other HDR offices could be required; this would be communicated in advance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
- Experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting, power, systems)
- Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
- Strong computer skills using AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power
- Active participation in HDR's employee-owned culture
- Strong operating knowledge of Revit MEP
- Experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
- Experience in data center/mission critical projects
- Local candidates preferred
