Position Overview

  • Answers scheduling calls quickly while minimizing time customers are on hold.
  • Collaborates with physician’s office to schedule cases while negotiating date and time and avoiding resource conflicts.
  • Gathers complete patient and procedure information and enters data accurately into database. Obtains and advises patients of all necessary pre-certification and referrals needed for financial reimbursement.
  • Completes MSP form timely and accurately. Understands and utilizes the necessary software program to determine "medical necessity" prior to scheduling a Medicare patient.
  • Informs all patients of pre-registration option and pre-registers all patients when information is obtainable.
  • Ensures that all appropriate staff, patients, departments, and external resources are notified of additions, changes, and cancellations.
  • Verifies all authorizations are obtained twenty‑four hours before date of service.
  • Follows out‑of‑network procedures.
  • Adheres to CH attendance policy as well as interdepartmental policies and procedures.
  • Attends all mandatory departmental meetings.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Experience:

    One year of call center or customer service experience assisting patients within a hospital or medical environment.
  • Knowledge and

    Skills:

    Working knowledge of medical terminology. Displays strong customer service and communication skills to properly assist patients' needs.
  • Special Training:
    Strong attention to detail.
  • Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities:
    Ability to multi‑task and navigate between systems simultaneously. Ability to handle a large volume of incoming calls. Manages time and works well in a fast‑paced environment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Frequent physical demands:
    Sitting.
  • Occasional physical demands:
    Standing, Walking, Climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders), Carrying objects, Push/Pull, Twisting, Bending, Reaching forward, Reaching overhead, Squat/kneel/crawl.
  • Continuous physical demands:
    Wrist position deviation, Pinching/fine motor activities, Keyboard use/repetitive motion, Talk or Hear.
  • Lifting Floor to Waist 15 lbs. Lifting Waist Level and Above 10 lbs.
  • Sensory Requirements:
    Accurate Near Vision, Accurate Far Vision, Accurate Depth Perception, Accurate Hearing.
  • Anticipated Occupational Exposure Risks:
    Bloodborne Pathogens, Airborne Communicable Disease, Dust/Particulate Matter.

Pay
: $18.57 – $26.98 per hour.
