Minimum Pay$18.57 per hour for a full‑time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position.
Position OverviewFull‑time transcriptionist supporting physicians by accurately transcribing, proofreading, and processing medical records.
Minimum Requirements- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of transcription or medical setting experience.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Associate’s degree in medical transcription preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and legal terminology preferred.
- Medical transcription certification preferred.
- Receives and transcribes verbal interpretations from physicians within departmental time frames.
- Verifies accuracy of patient information, inputs data into appropriate records, reports, and systems.
- Proofs transcripts for correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar, making necessary changes without altering meaning.
- Distributes timely reports consistent with established procedures, faxing or delivering as required.
- Sorts and files reports and forms per filing system practices.
- Receives incoming phone calls promptly and directs to appropriate party, records accurate messages or information, responds to inquiries received via voicemail.
- Maintains HIPAA‑compliant workspace and protects patient identification and demographic information.
- Trains new transcriptionists in equipment/software use.
- Schedules and confirms appointments using departmental tools.
- Monitors supply inventory and orders supplies to maintain adequate levels.
- Prepares EMG examination room, ensures correct patient demographics, and records all examination data for report generation.
- Frequent:
Pinching/fine motor activities. - Occasional:
Standing, walking, climbing stairs or ladders, carrying objects, pushing/pulling, twisting, bending, reaching forward/outward, squatting/ kneeling/crawling. - Continuous:
Sitting, keyboard use/repetitive motion, talking or hearing. - Lifting:
Floor to waist 15 lbs; waist level and above 10 lbs. - Sensory Requirements:
Accurate near and far vision, color discrimination, moderate depth perception, accurate hearing. - Occupational Exposure Risks:
Bloodborne pathogens, airborne communicable disease, dust/particulate matter.
